Summary - Goodreads

King crab fisherman Fox Thornton has a reputation as a sexy, carefree flirt. Everyone knows he's a guaranteed good time--in bed and out--and that's exactly how he prefers it. Until he meets Hannah Bellinger. She's immune to his charm and looks, but she seems to enjoy his... personality?

And wants to be friends? Bizarre. But he likes her too much to risk a fling, so platonic pals it is.

Now, Hannah's in town for work, crashing in Fox's spare bedroom. She knows he's a notorious ladies' man, but they're definitely just friends. In fact, she's nursing a hopeless crush on a colleague and Fox is just the person to help with her lackluster love life. Armed with a few tips from Westport's resident Casanova, Hannah sets out to catch her coworker's eye... yet the more time she spends with Fox, the more she wants him instead. As the line between friendship and flirtation begins to blur, Hannah can't deny she loves everything about Fox, but she refuses to be another notch on his bedpost.

Living with his best friend should have been easy. Except now she's walking around in a towel, sleeping right across the hall, and Fox is fantasizing about waking up next to her for the rest of his life and... and... man overboard! He's fallen for her, hook, line, and sinker. Helping her flirt with another guy is pure torture, but maybe if Fox can tackle his inner demons and show Hannah he's all in, she'll choose him instead?

In the follow-up to It Happened One Summer, Tessa Bailey delivers another deliciously fun rom-com about a former player who accidentally falls for his best friend while trying to help her land a different man...

My Thoughts - Contains Spoilers, Continue at Your Own Risk

Personally, I liked this one more than It Happened One Summer. Maybe it was the fact that, to me, I felt like Hannah was much more relatable than Piper....Maybe it was the fact that I knew a Fox in college (didn't we all, though?).....Maybe this one just seemed more realistic. The storyline is basically, if not totally, the same. I'm really trying to be objective, but I really don't have a whole lot to add. The writing of the book itself is pretty fluid and easy to read. There wasn't anything drawing me to read the book, except maybe the desire just to finish it? I'm really not that into romance, in all honesty, but I do feel like I could appreciate this for what it was.

I do feel like the epilogue of the book, the ten year flash forward, was a nice wrap up for this two book series. Really, even though this was "book two" of the series, I felt like you could read this and not be too lost if you hadn't read about Piper first. Very predictable, but then again this is the type of book you would read for a "feel good" sensation as opposed for the plot of the story.

I'm Curious

  1. Do you have or know of a Fox type character? Do you feel like people like that can change for the right person?

  2. Did you feel like you could connect more with Piper or Hannah?

  3. If you felt as Fox did, do you feel like you would've waited so long to express your feelings to your best friend?

  4. Predictability aside, were you ever rooting for Sergei?

  5. Is it just me or did Brinley give off the ick vibe right away?
