Summary In My Words
Grace is a single 32 year old woman & sole guardian to her soon to be eighteen year old sister with special needs, Millie. She pretty much resigns herself to a life of being single forever since she hasn't found a partner willing to accept that she is responsible for her sister. That is until she meets Jack Angel. Jack is a well known, successful lawyer who Grace thinks is the perfect man . . . Until he isn't.

My Thoughts - Spoliers Ahead, Read at Your Own Risk
I loved how the author laid this book out, revealing Jack to be the "bad guy" from the very begining. You'd think that by revealing this information it would spoil the book, but for me it removed that "predictability" & increased the suspense. We knew he was the bad guy, but how bad is he?
I wish that there had been a little more backstory information for Jack - there has to be more to his story. Who was he before he was Jack Angel? How did he become a successful lawyer if he had been on his own since 13?
I Loved Millie's character, she was bold & clever. I wish we could have gotten more of her, but considering the storyline - it is probably best that we didn't get that.

I'm Curious
  1. Grace took responsibility for Millie as an eighteen year old, do you think this is something that you could see yourself doing had it ever come up?
  2. Grace described the men she dated in the past as though Millie was a burden to them, maybe not at first, but eventually it always was the reason for the relationships end. Do you think this is reasonable, are most people turned off by responsibility or do you think maybe Grace had some difficulty recognizing good people?
  3. The way Jack described his lust for inflicting fear on a woman, specifically his mother. Why do you think he was so reserved with Grace, she was essentially at his mercy, what was it about Millie? Do you think it boiled down to his confidence is creating fear in her, do you think he knew she was strongwilled?
  4. So many people in Grace's life seemed to blinded by Jack's charm, but the women working at Millie's school knew Grace prior to knowing Grace with Jack. Why do you think they didn't notice any changes in her or Millie's behavior?
  5. In the end, Esther helps Grace. Why do you think she does that? Do you think Esther had an understanding of what was going on? Why do you think Esther caught on so quickly when many others hadn't?
